Some past work

(I picked out some favorites)

The Teamwork Kit

The Teamwork Kit is a toolkit and method for turning almost any group into a team of creative high performers. It's been used across Europe and the US, and it's a top pick in The Toolbox Toolbox.
Picture
Responsibilities: Planned, structured, wrote and edited the content, handled branding and rights issues, and made it ready for launch to the public. Promoted the kit externally through social channels, physical collateral, and blog posts.

Clas Fixare

Clas Fixare is Clas Ohlson's first in-home repair and technician service. Our design and development team took the idea from concept to prototype and then to launch. You can get it for iOS or Android.
Responsibilities: User research, information architecture, style guides and content standards, story mapping, UX writing, App Store and Google Play descriptions, translation management.

The pleasure of finding things out

We made this site for the Nobel Museum. It's an online exhibition dedicated to the relationship between art and theoretical physics, created to celebrate the centenary of Nobel Laureate Richard Feynman. A full physical exhibition took place at Singapore's ArtScience Museum.

Responsibilities: Managed content production, did contextual research, and wrote the content for the site and (along with the curator) the exhibition material.

Clas Ohlson Home

The Clas Ohlson Home app and Smart Plug are a partnership between Daresay and Clas Ohlson. The app has won two Red Dot awards for communication design, as well as Svenska Design Priset.

Daresay + Banking

We wanted a better way to pitch banks. So we made a simple one-page website. Nobody wants another pitchdeck.

Responsibilities: Messaging and tone of voice, content, site structure.

Talks and workshops

I've given talks and workshops on archaeological approaches to data, UX writing and microcopy, product storytelling, and approaches to inclusive UX writing. Events and venues include Startup day Sweden, The Festival Malmö, Foo Cafe, and IxDA's World Interaction Design Day.

Links to some writing

I've been writing professionally for 15 years, both as a journalist and within the design and technology industry. My work has appeared in everything from academic journals to airline magazines. Here are some highlights, but I'm happy to show you more (honestly, writers love when you want to see our stuff).
PictureArticle on surveillance capitalism, dating apps, and the impossibility of true consent. Bang, June 2018

Making stories happen is what makes me tick. Each of the experiences below made me a better writer, designer, and person, and I love when people ask me about them.
Picture

Radio documentary

I've made a 12-part series and two one-hour radio documentaries for Irish broadcasters Phantom 105.2 (RIP) and Newstalk 106-108fm. The Dream of Jeanie, my documentary on replica famine-era ship the Jeanie Johnston was rebroadcast for several years.
Picture

Chaos Thaoghaire

Chaos Thaoghaire was hard to explain.  A monthly event with live, true stories (like the Moth) but with interactive team games, an atmosphere of petty tyranny, a theme tune, and (somehow) its own currency. I don't know any more than you do, and I was there.
Picture

Community archaeology

From 2003-2007, I ran workshops with kids, using archaeology and archaeological thinking to help them feel the world belonged to them, too. We published some of our work in an edited volume and we were shortlisted for a BA Festival of Science award.

What the experts say

I asked some friends to give me testimonials. Here's what they had to say.
"You are a good-ideas machine, churning forth creative ideas and solutions faster than I could possibly take note of, and you are the only person capable of getting sent in to save me from an Inception-like parallel universe."
-- Karen Rooney
"Has an instinctive understanding of children to the point that I remain unconvinced she's not 1 child on another's shoulders in a long coat"

-- Mark Brereton
"Jane is not a being, Jane is a doing*.

*Pronounced to rhyme with "boing""

-- John McMahon
